Images of working dogs, pet dogs, sporting and country scenes and people, shoot days, training days and dog walks.Wildlife, Birds, Mammals, images of the countryside, Having very recently arrived back from a fantastic few days in Scotland I wanted to share with you the brilliant experience we had at Glen Tanar. Glen Tanar Estate is located in a stunning glen right in the heart of Royal Deeside with spectacular scenery all around and offers a number of holiday cottages accommodating a range of party sizes. We stayed in the smallest cottage, sleeping just 2 but what a cute little place it is. Rowan cottage is set away from the majority of the other cottages and certainly proves to be a relaxing and romantic setting for a couple. All the facilities you would want are available including a great fenced area to put your dogs if you bringing any. Wifi was easily available and the general cosiness of the cottage made it feel like home from the moment we walked in.
It was also lovely to spot the wealth of wildlife which was around the cottage including a very grand Pheasant who we nicknamed Dean, ha ha.

As is always the way when holidaying with Steve there wasn't much down time with our days filled with a mixture of dog photo shoots and wildlife photography so plenty of time for me to read (I got through 3 books whilst we were away!) Glen Tanar provided plenty of wildlife photographic opportunities including a Black Grouse lek which meant an early start for Steve on one of our mornings. Leaving me behing still snoozing Steve set off before first light meeting the ranger who took him in to the hide to wait for the action to begin. I know Steve had a great time and is keen to make use of the further hides that are offered by the estate including photography of Osprey, Golden Eagle, Hen Harrier and Merlin so it looks like I should get some more books! Lol.

As well as the opportunties on site Glen Tanar also provides an excellent base for visiting other areas of Deeside, Braemar is very close, as is Ballater and we enjoyed a drive through to Tomintoul on what was a beautiful day as it was all week for us. It was only on returning home that we saw that places we had visited the week before that were swathed in sunshine, had now been covered in snow!! Who knew what a difference a week would make...

It's certainly a lovely part of the world and I am lucky enough to live on an estate about 20 minutes away. Glad you and Steve enjoyed your time up here. As usual steve has provided us with some truly wonderful images. Hopefully we shall see you up here again sometime in the future. In the mean time I look forward to seeing more of Steve's images on Facebook.
