Working Dogs in Action Photography | Kingfishers & Workshops

Kingfishers & Workshops

As well as working during our couple of weeks in Scotland, both giving talks and completing commissioned photo shoots, Steve did have the opportunity to do some wildlife photography. On this particular occasion Steve enjoyed a day's photography with Scottish Photography Hides hoping to capture images of Kingfishers in anticipation of a workshop he will be holding in Spring next year.

An early start marked a day's photography in Dumfries for Steve whilst I snoozed on in our hotel room. Speaking to him on several occasions throughout the day he mentioned that most of his time was being spent waiting on the visits of the female Kingfisher.

However even by listening to Steve describing this time in the hide it was clear how much enjoyment he was getting from the hours spent there. He always reminds me of how much of a privilege he feels it is to get that close to a Kingfisher or indeed other species of birds and mammals and to able to photograph them.

This particular project wasn't all about his enjoyment however, it was also to enable him to check out the location for the prospective 3 day workshop, and to make sure he captured some images to share with those who might be interested in this workshop. As I described earlier I know Steve loves nothing more than sitting in a hide waiting for the next visit of a Kingfisher and hopefully this exciting opportunity is something he will be offering others in Spring 2016. Keep an eye on the website for details.
