During my one to one workshops I aim to show you the techniques and skills I use when approaching and photographing individual subjects. I will introduce you to the fieldcraft I employ in capturing natural images of the subjects whilst all the time remaining mindful of the welfare of those we are trying to photograph. As a leader of many group workshops over the years these one to one private sessions allow me more time with you to explore your individual photography needs and tailor the day to your individual requirements, whatever your skill level may be.
As well as understanding the fieldcraft I use, it is very important for you to understand your own camera. During this private workshop I will show you how to find the best settings for your own equipment, making the right decision as to lens choice, understanding camera handling techniques, exposure control, and composition, thereby helping you to be confident that the image you want is captured. My own photographic equipment will be with me on the day which allows me to show you how I work and the settings I employ for the images I produce. As the day progresses I will also be helping to train your eye to look for that unique and special image which brings out your individual insight into the subjects you are photographing.
The day will begin when we meet at a mutually agreed location for a short briefing before we start out for a day of photography. It should be noted that there are no guarantees with any wild subjects however we will endeavour to find plenty of photographic opportunities. As well as wild subjects I also offer these one to one photographic days with working dogs. Whether it is the dogs or the wildlife we work with we will be spending a full day out in the field so appropriate clothing and footwear are a must as is all of your photographic equipment and any refreshments you require. The day will end as it started, with a briefing about what we have seen, photographed and learnt. Also included in this one to one workshop is a set of course notes which help to illustrate many of the things we will have discussed on the day but do come along with as many questions and queries as you have so that you can get the most from your experience. I would be happy to see some of your own photographic work if you wish to bring any along that you may want me to advise on. I am of course available by email or phone for any advice you require after your private workshop and do offer a mentoring service for continued support.
My one to one workshops are a fantastic opportunity to spend a full day with me in the field learning lots and improving in all aspects of photography. As a special and unique gift these photographic days make a perfect present for birthdays, Christmas or any special occasion. Please contact me for more information.

For those that have a good understanding of and a working knowledge of the subject they will gain some good opportunities to take some great natural images in a controlled environment. All participants will experience photography in a relaxed and informative way.
CAMERA EQUIPMENT – Steve will help you to get the most out of the equipment you have. As a guide, a digital camera with interchangeable lenses would be best along with any lenses you have ranging from a wide angle through to 300mm or larger telephoto. A tripod and flash gun would be useful.
